HI....WELCOME TO PART 2......HOW TO GET INTO MAGIC.
Magic is a fantastic hobby,even if you do it for yourself...but as you progress,you will be wanting to show off your skills to family and friends.
Magic is only complicated and difficult if you make it that way....start with easy to do tricks.
The key word and most important word is.....practice!
Choose a trick from a book or dvd or you tube.....practice this trick a few minutes a day until you can do it without fault.
Once you can do this trick without any hiccups,you are almost there.....what makes a trick more magical is a story to go along with the trick.....it could be a comical story or mystical.
A story makes the trick more real and draws your audience in.
Selling the trick means to breathe more life into the magic and also helps with misdirection.
In the past,when i had my magic work shop,i started my class with a thumb tip.
If you dont know what a thumb tip is....go to any magic shop and you can see them on there or you can see a thumb tip in action on you tube.
Thumb tips are a fantastic way of making small objects disappear....and they are very cheap to buy (i get them for £1 each).....They are a magicians favorite gadget....and there are books on how to do thumb tip magic.....i guarantee that you will want a thumb tip.
Practice your trick and add a little story....then practice in the mirror....then in front of a friend...your friend will tell you if you made any mistakes,or how you could better the trick or you may blow them away.
NEVER GIVE UP !
I'm not the most patient person and tend to give up easily....but with magic,i practiced hard and the results and patience paid off....stick with it !.

Magic is a fantastic hobby and an art that takes time to achieve like most things.
I got into magic at a very young age ( 7 or 8 yrs old)....but there is no age limit with magic.
There is so many different styles from card magic to mental magic....you could dabble in all styles.
Magic is a way of entertainment and a way of creating new friends....wowing people is a real buzz.
FIRSTLY.....take a look at YOU TUBE (put in magic tricks in the search ).
You will find hundreds of tricks performed by children,amatures and professionals.
There are also tricks revealed,showing you how to do the trick...most of which are very easy to do but with eye popping results.
This gives you a live insight to what it looks like when performed.
SECONDLY.....Magic books tell you a great deal of the art of magic and how to begin.
Books show you tricks by the way of pictures and explain how to do the effect.
Go to your local library...if you can not find any magic books there....ask !...they can order books from other libraries.
Go to car boot sales and charity shops (i have found many books at these places).
You can find magic books in your local book shops and on magic shop websites..BUT these can be very expensive.
Try e-bay....and amazon....you can purchase books reasonably cheap from there.
THIRDLY......Magic sets....you can get a great range of these from toy shops and on magic shop sites...BUT these can be very expensive.
Shop around...go to car boot sales and charity shops...e-bay and discount shops on line.
Start with very simple tricks...such as cup and balls....don't start by trying to do complicated tricks.
You must start with a child's set,and progress from there and build up.
Magic can also be performed by objects found around your house....cards..money..string..cups..paper..pens..spoons and much more....and don't cost you any thing.
CHOOSE A SIMPLE TRICK TO PERFORM.
PRACTICE IN THE MIRROR OR IN FRONT OF A FRIEND.
DO NOT SHOW ANYONE THE TRICK UNTIL YOU HAVE MASTERED IT.
LEARN A HOST OF SIMPLE TRICKS AND THEN WHEN YOU ARE READY,PERFORM THEM TO SOME CHILDREN.
REMEMBER....IT TAKES TIME !....SO PRACTICE....PRACTICE...PRACTICE !
